Engle W110 vs CB Cheater on stock 040 dual-port heads#1 · 9/21/2026, 8:22:06 AM
Mild street 1776, stock 040 heads with a basic port clean-up, single springs for now, 1.25 rockers.

W110 or the Cheater? And are 1.25s ok on stock springs, or am I asking for float?

With 1.25 rockers, stock springs run out of seat pressure fast. Fit a dual spring set with chromoly retainers, set the installed height properly and check for coil bind. That isn't optional.

Both cams suit the 040 heads on a street car. Look up the duration at .050" for each one and put the numbers in the calculator, rather than trusting the catalogue sales pitch.

I ran a W110 with 1.25s in my 1835 for years. It pulls nicely from about 2500. I'd do it again.
